Narrative texts, like the two that we have been looking at, have special features that include: past tense verbs, 3rd person pronouns, as well as the verbs 'said' and 'asked'.  
In particular we have been focusing on working with the pronunciation of past tense verbs ending in -ed.

Verbs that end in the following sounds tend to have the /t/ sound when -ed is added:

-p, -k, -s, -ch, -sh, -f, -x, - h


Verbs that end in the following sounds tend to have the /d/ sound when -ed is added:

-l, -v, -n, -m, -r, -b, -v, -g, -w, -y, -z
Verbs that end in the following sounds tend to have the /id/ sound when -ed is added:

-t, -d



Remember: We use past tense to describe activities that have happened already.  In other words, they occured in the past.
