Acrostic

NETS for Teachers Standard 2A: Teachers design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.

Reflection: This is a great activity for the students at the beginning of the year that will generate them to tell a little bit about themselves in a creative, vocabulary building way. You can create it into a community project, a bulletin board or an interview activity with a partner.

Trading Cards

NETS for Teachers Standard 3B: Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

Reflection: I made these cards with Microsoft Word and Clipart. Trading cards are an excellent way for review before a test. This specific activity is great for a science lesson. You can have students working with partners or by themselves. They would have to match the animal picture with the features of the animal. Then, the class can go over them at the end of the lesson to be sure they are correct!

Educational Brochure

NETS for Teachers Standard 2A: Teachers design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.

Reflection: This type of brocure is a great visual for any learner. It is very inviting and informational. Activities can also be created for students using this eye-catching technique. Students tend to hang on to this type of document because it is so visually appealing and parents are more likely to read it too!

Track Changes

NETS for Teachers Standard 3C: Teachers apply technology to develop students’ higher order skills and creativity.

Reflection: Having students save their work on a schoolwide network or a disk is a great way to use this program to make corrections and add comments. This way, students don't have to struggle to read your writing or wonder what you are talking about. You can see exactly what the corrections are that need to be made and lines are drawn directly to comments. This is a very effective language arts technique.

Rebus Poem

NETS for Teachers Standard 3B: Teachers use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

Reflection: A rebus poem is so great for students to create themselves. Many students struggle with poetry, but when they can insert their own pictures to replace the word, they get excited about it. You can learn by doing it with a poem written by someone else, then learn how to do it with your own poetry. This is so easy you can do it at almost every level!
