What is an Adjective?

Before we read the story called The Little Mermaid, we need to know what is an adjective. An adjective is also called a describing word and it describes a noun (person, place, or thing). In English, usually the adjective comes before the noun.
Now, lets brainstorm a few describing words before we read the descriptions of the Little Mermaid.

Characters of The Little Mermaid

Below is a chart that will help you to get to know the characters of the fairy tale of The Little Mermaid. Remember in Fairy Tales there are a lot of adjectives describing the story and the characters' personalities.

Ariel	Ariel is the little mermaid and the youngest daughter of King Triton. She has really long and beautiful red hair. She loves searching for treasures from the human world.
King Triton	King Triton is the father of the little mermaid, Ariel. King Triton has white hair and a big white beard. He is very protective of his daughters and he is furious with Ariel for going to the surface. He thinks humans are dangerous!
Ursula	Ursula is the wicked sea witch and she has bright red lips, white hair, purple skin, and black fins. Ursula offers Ariel a way to see her true love, Prince Eric. Ursula could give Ariel legs but in exchange for her beautiful voice.
Sebastian	Sebastian is a little crab that is the court composer of the concerts at the royal palace. Sebastian tries to help Ariel realize her home is under the sea and not up at the surface with the dangerous humans.
Flounder	Flounder is Ariel's best friend and always goes with her looking for treasure. Flounder is a fish with blue fins and yellow skin. Flounder always is nervous about looking for treasure in scary sunken ships and being far away from home.
Scuttle	Scuttle is a silly seagull who thinks he knows everything about the human world and Ariel's treasures. Scuttle is a seagull with white feathers, an orange beak, and grey feathers on his wings.
Prince Eric	Prince Eric is the handsome and young prince who Ariel is in love with. Eric has blue eyes and dark black hair. However, he is a human and Ariel is a mermaid. Ariel saves Prince Eric from the sea and he remembers her beautiful voice.
