Other Course Work!
Elementary Science
Research and Reflection Project
For this project we had to
research, present, and discuss a brief lesson on a topic of personal
interest. We had to take three questions dealing with a specific topic
and research the answers to them. Then we had to present our findings
in a power point presentation. The topic I chose was Phenomena of the
sky. My three questions were: Why is the sky blue?, How do rainbows
form?, and What is a shooting star?. I researched all three of these
questions using the Google search engine and then i used the
information I found to create an interesting power point.
Val 335 Sexuality and
Marriage Presentation
For this project we had to
research and present on the broad topic of sexuality and marriage. We
chose to focus on sexuality, sexual attitudes and stereotyping,
different forms of marriage, family, controversial topics
(homosexuality, rape, incest, pedophilia, etc.). The we also did a
section on the religious views on these topics. Then just for fun we
did funny sex laws from all across the world. I personally did the
religious view section, since I was very familiar with these views,
since this is how I was brought up!
For this project we had to reflect upon our experiences in EDU 375 Teaching Elementary Social Studies. We did this by showing that we met three specific course goals by presenting different things that we had completed throughout the semester and reflecting on how they met the particular course goals that were outlined. Elementary Science Problem Solving Unit Plan on the Digestive System For this project we had to work in
a group to create a problem solving unit plan essentially dealing with
the digestive system. This unit plan had many different parts that had
to be completed. Not only did it have five full lesson plans, but it
also had five full integrated lesson plans. On top of these we also had
to come up with alternate activities dealing with the unit, an idea
about how to teach about a multicultural aspect of the topic, and also
we had to develop a summative assessment. This was a huge unit plan
that took a lot of time and dedication!
Social Studies Unit Plan on
Leaders of the Abolition Movment
For this project we had to once
again work in a group setting to develop a unit plan dealing with a
topic that we felt was important for elementary students to learn
about. Our group decided to do a unit plan on the abolition movement
and it's many great leaders. It contains lesson plans on Harriet
Tubman, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Fredrick Douglas, and also Abraham
Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation! This unit plan includes many
different kinds of activities in order to incorporate the diverse
learning needs of students.
