Kissing Spine-Interspinous Sprain:

Kissing Spine is a spinous process of adjacent vertebra touching. This is casues by trauma or degenerative factors, like forceful flexion of the spine. This affects cervical vertebrae and for Dancers it is commonly affected by limber vertebrae. Dancers will notice pain and limitions with both extensions and flexion motions.

Spondylolysis:

Spondylolysis is when pain occurs when arching the back. This is a stress fracture in one or more vertebrae of limbar spine. Dancers put great stress on their lower backs and are requied to over stretch or hyperextension of spine. Dancers wont notice the pain unless there is trauma. The pain occurs in port de bras or cambre backwards and also when initially dancing.
 

Herniated Lumbar Disc:

Herniated Lumbar Disc occurs suddenly in an event such as falls or an accidents that twisting or torsional movement is involved. This occurs gradually with strain on lumbar spine. Dances experience low back pain, but also leg pain over outside of thigh, lower leg or foot. The pain is descibed as an electric shock.
